Style Guide
Choosing outfits can be overwhelming but the most important aspect is you and your family's comfort. You need to feel good in order to look your best.
Helpful Tips:
- Start with yourself. Pick something you love & feel great in.
- Coordinate don't match. Pick colors & tones that complement one another.
- Stick with a theme (neutrals, cool tones, greys, etc.) Adding in different types of fabrics will create dimension & character.
- Have one family member in a pattern & choose colors from their outfit. LESS IS MORE.
- Choose a color palette with 3-4 colors. ***Avoid neon, characters & graphics on clothing.
- Don't forget to think about what shoes everyone will wear.
- Remember to remove cellphones, keys & bulky items from your pockets
- Remove your smart watches too.
Families & Couples
Consider your location.
If your location has lots of green grass avoid wearing a lot of green.
You want to stand out against your backdrop.
Consider your home decor.
These photos will more than likely hang on your walls. Ensure your clothing choices match your decor and color scheme.
Shop at the same store.
Stores usually have collections that coordinate. This will make it very easy for you.
Seniors
Pick 2-3 outfits (1 hour) or 2-6 (2 hour) for your session.
Keep in mind how these all look together for your grad party invites.
Don’t overthink it.
Pick at least one dresser option and then a more casual outfit or two.
Keep it simple and remember that you might have to change on the go or in your car.
Add personal items
This is your opportunity to show off your culture, style and interests.
Bring along a prop.
Something that has special meaning to you.
Look your best
Choose outfits that you feel comfortable in. Something that you're able to walk, sit, kneel and get on the ground in.
Avoid
Too short or overly exposing dresses or top, neon, graphic or characters on clothing.
***If a character shirt is your personal style go with it!
But for example, I would avoid graphic T-shirts that have a big Under Armour or Nike logo on it.
Show off your extracurriculars
Sports, hobbies or instruments.
Bring along your uniform or any important items that represent your achievements.
Include your pets, best friend or even your car.
In-home Newborn
Consider your home decor.
Try to pick a color palette that matches the rooms that you want to use.
Dress your newborn in solid colors.
Keep it simple for the baby. Choose a solid textured onesie. A footie or footless pajamas is a great choice. Add other colors or patterns within your other family members.
Pull out a few solid or simple pattern blankets or swaddles to use well.
